Every morning when Mama comes to get me out of the crib, I give her a great big, strong hug around her neck. Then, I quickly decide I have no use with her and get to the first important business matter of the day- "Da-da??" "Da-da??" Then she takes me out of the room and around the corner where I find you. All is right with the world, and I am with Da-da.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY! I LOVE YOU! Bowen

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
We are always busy at Christmas, as I am sure you all are, also. We have about 5 (probably more) "Christmases" spread out over 2 weeks and 3 states. Santa and everyone else was so good to Bowen. By the time we got back from Texas, the Suburban looked like the back room of Toys R Us. We love plastic.
Bowen has the Little People Nativity Scene and it plays "Away in a Manger." One of his favorite things to do over December was dance to that music. And boy, did he dance hard. This boy can jam to "Away in the Manger" like you've never seen.
Bowen has definitely been a "later" walker. He has been walking for months- at least short distances. Walking had just never been his transportation of choice. That definitely changed in December. The world is the boy's oyster now...he's even running some now!
While Bowen is very grateful to Santa for all the goodies he received, he sure doesn't like to sit in that man's lap! We saw Santa a couple of times around town before Christmas, and not once was the kid happy about it. One day that will change, I'm sure.
I can't believe 2010 is upon us and quickly moving. I have already received the "Mother of the Year" award for 2010 (yes, I know, overachiever). I was giving my little munchkin a haircut, using the sewing scissors. In the blink of an eye, the boy grabbed the scissors and opened them, grabbing the blades- one in each hand. I immediately went for them. He saw me and, like he does with anything when he figures out I don't want him to have it, he held on tighter. I gently peeled them out of his hands, thinking we had escaped a cut. But, I was wrong, and the blood bath began. I was just sick to my stomach. Can a 16 month old bleed this much and still live? How many stitches are we going to get? Where do I take him to get stiches? I thought I was going to faint. Good grief, I even called the doctor- on call- on a Saturday afternoon. (She knows I am a nut already.) So, my new mommy adventures continue. I take my award reluctantly, learning a cut WILL heal and that a baby mullet might be better than the alternative.
Much love, Abby
Merry Christmas!
Cheese!
Get me outta here...now!
PapaDoc reaching for me.
I love this big brown bear (dog).
Sleepy eyes see what Santa brought.
